Biological Wastewater, Sewer and Pump Station Treatment

Grease, sludge and odour build up along the whole waste path, from kitchen traps and drains through pump stations and sewer lines to the treatment plant. GEARTH treats each point with bacteria cultivated from South African soils, dosed on a regular schedule.

The problems wastewater sites face, and what we use

01

Sludge and odour at the treatment plant

Sewer BioFlow bio-augments a plant’s existing microbes. It is dosed continuously at the inlet at 1 to 5 L of liquid concentrate per megalitre of daily flow, or as a super concentrate or powder, with a shock dose of 0.1% to 1% of sludge volume if required.

02

Grease and sludge in pump and lift stations

PumpFlow Pro is a high-lipase liquid dosed automatically at 1 to 5 L per million litres of daily flow. It digests the fats, oils and grease that obstruct floats and shorten pump life, and it carries on downstream.

03

Grease entering the sewer from kitchens

Most grease blockages start upstream. BioTrap treats restaurant and canteen grease traps daily after hours, and DrainZyme clears and maintains drains, grease traps and sewer lines prone to organic blockage.

04

Septic tanks and rural systems

Septic BioFlow is a powder dosed at 250 g to 1 kg per 1 000 L of tank capacity as a shock dose, then 100 g per 1 000 L for maintenance. It can also be sprinkled directly over sewage spills.

05

Sewage spills and overflows

Septic BioFlow powder sprinkled over a spill helps contain it and control odour, and SpillSorb absorbs septic tank and sewer overflow for clean-up.

Wastewater: frequently asked questions

How is Sewer BioFlow dosed at a treatment plant?

Ideally continuously at the inlet, into any aerobic or facultative anaerobic zone. The maintenance dose is 1 to 5 L of liquid concentrate, 100 to 500 ml of super concentrate or 100 to 500 g of powder per megalitre of daily flow.

How do you treat a pump station?

With PumpFlow Pro, dosed automatically through the GEARTH Advanced Dosing System at 1 to 5 L per million litres of daily flow. Pairing it with Sewer BioFlow at the plant treats the whole path.

Can the dosing run unattended?

Yes. The liquid products can be dosed through the GEARTH Advanced Dosing System, which has battery backup, can be secured against theft, and is refilled about once a month.

What dose does a septic tank need?

A shock dose of 250 g to 1 kg per 1 000 L of tank capacity, then 100 g per 1 000 L weekly until the problem is resolved, then monthly.

Can we trial a dosing programme first?

Yes. We assess the site and flows, run a trial dosing programme, and then set up ongoing supply.
