BioTrap

An odour-reducing grease and fat trap treatment built on an intelligent bacterial and microbial consortium. Its proprietary super-high-lipase cultures produce the enzymes needed to digest the fats, oils, greases, proteins and starches in a trap, permanently converting the F.O.G. load into water and carbon dioxide instead of relocating it downstream.

Key Features

  • Proprietary super-high-lipase enzyme producing bacteria for consistent fat digestion
  • Rapid enzymatic digestion of fats, oils, greases, proteins and starches in traps and drain lines
  • Converts F.O.G. permanently into water and carbon dioxide
  • Eliminates or greatly reduces licensed waste-oil pump-out costs
  • Prevents the downstream re-congealing that conventional chemical trap cleaners cause
  • Immediate odour improvement, progressing toward total odour elimination
  • Protects sewer capacity and reduces blockage and pump failure risk
  • Reduces load and operating cost at the downstream wastewater treatment plant
  • Supports compliance with municipal wastewater bylaw maintenance obligations
  • Compatible with the GEARTH Advanced Dosing System for fully automated after-hours dosing
  • Available as a super concentrate for simple self-manufacturing

Applications

  • Restaurants, takeaway outlets and coffee shops
  • Hotel, lodge and conference centre kitchens
  • Hospital, school and hostel canteens
  • Bakeries, butcheries and supermarkets
  • Food processing plants and industrial canteens
  • Communal shared and outdoor fat traps
  • Kitchen drain lines and gullies upstream of the trap

How to use BioTrap

Dose 833 ml per trap per day, which is 25 L a month. Use the ready-to-use grade for traps up to 50 L and the 10X grade for larger traps. Always dose after hours: during operating hours, hot oil and hot water impair the cultures.

Trap up to 50 L (restaurants, canteens, hotels, lodges)
BioTrap RTU, 833 ml daily (25 L per month)
Trap above 50 L (communal and outdoor traps, food plants, butcheries)
BioTrap 10X, 833 ml daily (25 L per month)
When to dose
After hours or at kitchen closing, never during operating hours

Where BioTrap is used

Restaurants, takeaways and coffee shops

Traps up to 50 L dosed nightly with the ready-to-use grade, digesting fats, oils and grease instead of letting them congeal.

Hotels, hospitals and schools

Hotel, lodge and conference kitchens, and hospital, school and hostel canteens, where trap odour is a constant complaint.

Food processing, bakeries and butcheries

Larger traps above 50 L dosed with the 10X grade, including communal and outdoor traps.

Kitchen drain lines

Drain lines and gullies upstream of the trap, where grease would otherwise build up and block.

Pack sizes

One trap uses about 25 L a month at the standard dose.

Box of 36 x 100 ml

Small or occasional dosing points.

5 L

Topping up a small trap, or a first trial.

25 L

One month of daily dosing for one trap.

210 L

Groups dosing several traps each month.

1 000 L

Bulk supply for food plants, shopping centres and multi-site groups.

BioTrap: frequently asked questions

How much BioTrap does one grease trap need?

833 ml a day, which is 25 L a month. Use BioTrap RTU for traps up to 50 L and BioTrap 10X for traps above 50 L.

When should I dose the trap?

After hours or at kitchen closing, never during operating hours. Hot oil and hot water impair the cultures, and the cooler, quieter trap overnight suits them.

Does BioTrap replace pump-outs?

It greatly reduces licensed waste-oil pump-out costs, because it digests the fats, oils and grease instead of letting them congeal. Food solids still need to be removed from the separator regularly.

Can I clean the kitchen with bleach while using BioTrap?

Keep bleach, disinfectants, caustics and high-chlorine cleaners out of the treated trap. They destroy the active cultures.

Can dosing be automated?

Yes. The GEARTH Advanced Dosing System doses the trap after hours every day without relying on kitchen staff.
