BioLitter

Biological litter treatment converting ammonia to ammonium nitrate.

Key Features

  • Non-corrosive: protects fasteners, heaters, walls, ceilings, plastics, concrete and timber
  • Permanently converts ammonia into ammonium nitrate fertiliser
  • Adds lignin carbon to correct the litter bed's carbon-to-nitrogen balance
  • Reduces free ammonia through organic acid chelation
  • Controls pathogens by Competitive Exclusion: no resistance build-up
  • Continues working for hours and days after application, unlike disinfectants
  • Reduces reliance on costly ventilation for ammonia management
  • Improves flock health and welfare through a continuously working protective barrier
  • Cultures are naturally occurring and not genetically modified
  • Removes the escalating cycle of harsh acidic litter chemistry

Applications

  • Broiler houses: ammonia, pathogen and odour control across the grow-out cycle
  • Layer and breeder operations
  • Litter bed treatment between placements and during the cycle
  • Poultry coops, aviaries and small-scale operations
  • Any poultry facility where equipment corrosion or ventilation cost is driven by ammonia

How to use BioLitter

Apply BioLitter evenly across the litter bed. We match the rate to each house, based on house size, litter depth, stocking density and ammonia load.

  1. Assess: take baseline ammonia readings and note litter condition before the first treatment.
  2. Prepare: break up caked litter so the treatment distributes evenly through the bed.
  3. Apply: spread it evenly across the litter bed at the rate we set for your house.
  4. Monitor: track ammonia levels and litter condition. Biological control strengthens with successive applications.
  5. Maintain: reapply through the cycle and at litter turnover.

About BioLitter

BioLitter controls ammonia and odour in poultry litter biologically, without acidifying it, and it is non-corrosive. Its microbial consortium converts ammonia into ammonium nitrate. Lignin adds carbon to correct the litter bed’s carbon-to-nitrogen balance, organic acids chelate free ammonia, and the applied cultures compete with unwanted organisms for food and space.

Where BioLitter is used

Broiler houses

Ammonia and odour control across the grow-out cycle, without the escalating cycle of acidic litter chemistry.

Layer and breeder operations

Treating the litter bed between placements and during the cycle.

Houses with corrosion problems

Non-corrosive to fasteners, heaters, walls, ceilings, plastics, concrete and timber, where ammonia is damaging equipment.

Coops, aviaries and small operations

Smaller poultry facilities that want ammonia control without harsh chemicals, and less reliance on ventilation to manage it.

Pack sizes

Choose by the number and size of houses you treat.

5 L

Small-scale coops, aviaries and a first trial in one house.

25 L

A single broiler or layer house through a cycle.

210 L

Multi-house broiler and breeder operations.

1 000 L

Bulk supply for large integrated poultry operations.

BioLitter: frequently asked questions

How does BioLitter reduce ammonia?

Its microbial consortium converts ammonia into ammonium nitrate, lignin corrects the litter's carbon-to-nitrogen balance, and organic acids chelate free ammonia.

What application rate should I use?

We set the rate for your house, based on its size, litter depth, stocking density and ammonia load.

Is it corrosive to house equipment?

No. BioLitter is non-corrosive to metal, plastic, concrete and timber components.

Can I disinfect treated litter?

No. Disinfectants, sanitisers, high chlorine concentrations and acidic litter treatments destroy the active cultures.
